They were recognised as the leading legal employer at the annual 'Britain's Top Employers Awards', and achieved record rankings in Chambers UK 2017. The Department Their national Large Loss team handles claims reserved at a minimum of £500,000, representing around £750 million of client reserves. The majority of claims that they deal with are motor, but they also cover employer's liability, public liability and product liability, as well as substantial dependency fatality claims. Typical cases involve brain, spinal and amputation injuries. The Role PLEASE NOTE: This is a fixed term role for 12 months To assist partners on catastrophic PI cases under supervision, conducting any relevant investigations such as obtaining witness statements, instructing experts, instructing Counsel and preparing draft updates to clients. Main duties and responsibilities: Assist partners with their caseloadsRepudiate and/or compromise the claim as appropriateAssist in reviewing case upon instructionAssist in initial investigations and in reporting to clients/preparing internal strategy reports as appropriateReview and analyse databases and make further investigations as appropriateLiaise with other solicitors, insurers, police, HSE and witnesses to gather evidenceInstruct various experts as appropriateControl Case Manager Diary and action listsAttend at court hearings as appropriateAttend conferences and JSM's as directed by partner, subject to client approvalDraft letters, reports, reserve sheets and action plans as directedHave direct contact with clients as delegatedComplete Client MI procedures and update Large Loss databaseComply with CPR/rehabilitation protocolKeep up to date with legal developments in high value personal injury claimsAchieve set financial and chargeable targetsEnsure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KIPS are adhered toComply with relevant policies and proceduresWork in accordance with the firm's values The Person Specification Qualified solicitor 4-5 yearsPQEExperience of high value defendant personal injury litigation work (EL/PL/RTA/OLA)Ability to work to deadlines and targets and work under pressureAbility to work as part of a team or on own initiativeKnowledge of CPR procedures/technical abilityAbility to work as part of a team and on own initiative
