Apply now This exciting and challenging role is within a prestigious college based in the heart of Oxford. They provide a highly personalised education to pupils of various ages. The College offers flexible long-term and short-term tuition programmes in more or less all school and university subjects. The College is a registered examination centre and regularly prepares pupils for GCSE and A level exam. They also offer courses of preparation for school and university entrance and aims to provide any other academic support which pupils might benefit from on an individual basis. This position will require the successful candidate to undergo an enhanced DBS background check plus comprehensive reference checks - They are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Duties of the post: work closely with the Director of Studies to ensure that key details (including dates, subjects, subject level, tuition hours and proposed tutor allocations) are clear for each new pupil and course and maintain accurate logs of these details for all courses into the foreseeable future;ascertain tutors' available teaching times as far in advance as possible and maintain accurate logs of tutor availability into the foreseeable future;coordinate the use of available teaching space and resources;produce balanced, effective and accurate timetables for pupils and tutors using the College's dedicated software package, in accordance with instructions from the Director of Studies;inform the Director of Studies promptly of any issue which might have a negative impact on timetables for pupils or tutors;distribute timetables promptly to pupils, tutors, office staff, and any other relevant parties;communicate any timetable changes promptly and clearly to all affected parties;minimise any timetable changes which are not directly to the benefit of the pupil concerned;forecast future need for tutors (of specific subjects), teaching space and resources, based on current admissions information and communicate requirements clearly to relevant staff;advertise locally for new subject tutors; sort and respond to applications received;carry out the enrolment and induction of newly recruited tutors;ensure that tutor personnel files are kept up to date with all required documents in place and carry out all necessary background checks promptly;work as part of an integrated front office team, providing occasional reception cover and assisting in other day-to-day operations of the College as required. Required knowledge, skills, and qualities: strong logic, puzzle-solving ability;good memory, capacity to process large volumes of information;high level of attention to detail and accuracy;initiative and ability to work independently;good time management, self-discipline and personal organisation;ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure;general IT competence, familiarity with MS Office, including Excel;sense of responsibility;effective rapport with both adults and children;genuine interest in education;good knowledge of the English secondary school system (private and state). Desirable (but not essential) prior experience: timetabling or otherwise coordinating the work of others;data processing or use of data management software;working in a school or with children/young people;working in an office environment;client service. Starting salary from £19,000 to £22,000 per annum, depending on skills, qualifications and experience. Regular performance-related pay rises.
