Apply now Our client is a growing, highly regarded Financial Services provider with c.600 staff. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor to join their busy team of Legal and Technical experts. The team manages the purchase and sale of properties held on behalf of their customers. The portfolio currently consists of approximately 4,200 commercial properties. The role is primarily to protect the business interests to ensure that procedures followed adhere to HMRC, statutory and the business' own requirements to mitigate risk. Main Accountabilities/Purpose: To review legal documentation, SDLT forms, mortgage documentation etc provided by solicitors and lenders, ensuring that they are in order and that adequate legal protection is provided to the corporate trustee and rectify/instruct as appropriate.To provide legal advice, information and risk mitigation measures to the administrators within the Property Department.To review valuation and environmental reports to ensure HMRC and company policies are followed, and adequate protection is given.Give guidance to surveyors / valuers in respect of valuations prepared on our behalf.To co-ordinate the various agencies involved in the purchase of properties to make the processes run as smoothly as possible for all concerned and ensure compliance with the rules laid down by HM Customs & Revenue and with the policies of the business.Identify general areas for improvement in procedures and pass on to the Department Manager, Senior Property Solicitor and/or the Property Team Leader as appropriate.Be responsible for completing all mandatory training and to do so within required timescalesThe post holder does not have responsibility for any staff. Required: Must be qualified solicitor/barrister experienced in commercial propertyStrong experience of Lease workExcellent verbal, numerical and written communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesHigh attention to detailAbility to manage own workload and be able to work as part of a teamFlexibility and a willingness to get involvedAn understanding of commercial property management would be essential
