Apply now My client, a leading provider of specialist equipment for the semiconductor industry, require and experienced Technical Buyer to join their talented team on contract basis. Based just outside Cambridge, they are a well known tech-based company with a global supply and customer base, and a varied product range.As part of a small team, this role involves working closely with the engineering team on project based procurement, ensuring timely delivery of materials, parts and sub-assemblies with a fast moving high pressure environment. You will be fully responsible for the supply chain management of the suppliers throughout the process.Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:- Managing and developing key supplier relationships- Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies across the major technical categories- Identifying and delivering further opportunities to reduce overall supply chain costs- Ensure quality, service level, price and supply logistics meet commercial and internal customer needs- Work closely with engineering to ensure material is delivered accurately and on timeIdeally you will be an experienced buyer/purchasing professional, with a track record of delivery within complex machinery build projects, using multiple vendors to fulfil vast BOM's. Qualified to HND/Degree would be preferable, but not essential, as a CIPS level 4 and above qualification would be a good alternative, along with 5 + years of purchasing experience within a technical or engineering based role. A background in forecasting, sourcing and benchmarking is preferred, alongside basic purchasing skills such as expediting and supplier management. SAP knowledge is also an advantage.This contract is likely to last around 6 months, but could continue, and will be reviewed periodically.
