The role As an Environmental Health Officer within the Private Sector Housing team, you will be tasked with investigating complaints surrounding poor housing conditions across the Council's portfolio of housing stock. You will conduct both proactive and reactive inspections of HMO's, identifying states of disrepair and other hazards using the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System. In cases of non-compliance, you will be responsible for using appropriate licensing and enforcement powers to ultimately bring the properties up to statuary and council standards. If required, you will assist in preparing prosecution papers and give evidence at Magistrates Court. Requirements In order to be successful in this role you will be have a degree in Environmental Health and be registered member of the EHRB. You will have worked in a similar capacity at either a Local Authority or County Council dealing with rogue landlords and issues surrounding Private Sector housing. It is crucial that you have an excellent understanding of the regulatory framework, guidance and good practice in relation to the Housing Act and HHSRS assessments. Benefits You will receive a generous hourly rate of up to £31.59 per hour and a contract that is initially expected to run until the end of April 2018.
