Apply now Head of Midwifery Location: Chertsey, Surrey Department: Women's Health & Paediatrics Personally Accountable to: Chief Nurse Type of role: Interim Duration of the role: This is an interim role expected to be for 3 to 6 months and maybe longer Band: 8C / D Depending on skill and experience Pay Rate: £34.00 to £42.00 per hour paye plus holiday or £39.10 to £48.30 per hour umbrella (daily = £255 to £315 paye per day or £293.25 to £362.25 umb per day) Plus note the client maybe open to discussion on the pay rate. Working days and Hours: Monday to Friday, full time 37.5 hours per week The Head of Midwifery, in conjunction with the Divisional Director and Divisional Associate Director of Operations will: Lead the operational and strategic direction of maternity services in the TrustAdvise the Trust Board via the Chief Nurse on all aspects of midwifery practice and Statutory Supervision of MidwiferyRepresent the Trust on all midwifery issues both internally and externallyProvide high level professional and operational support for midwifery across the wider Trust and support the successful achievement of the Trust visionLead with the delivery of excellent quality midwifery care providing expert advice to the Trust and Division on all midwifery mattersIn collaboration with the Divisional Director and Divisional Associate Director of Operations Lead the Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and ensure the quality of care within the division; patient experience, patient safety and clinical effectiveness is of the highest standard, meeting national and local outcomes and achievement of agreed CQUIN paymentsEnsure the Integrated Clinical Governance Assurance Framework is embedded within the Division Integrate corporate midwifery plans with the Divisional clinical service plans. Work with senior nurses across the Trust to evolve and develop predictive/early warning clinical quality dashboards that enable targeted interventionEnsure the midwifery agenda is delivered by providing leadership and professional management of Matrons, Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Practice Educators and all midwives and nurses within the DirectorateLead the work to strengthen and optimise the role of the ward sister both within the Division but also across the TrustLead on NHSLA CNST Standards for Maternity ServicesEnsure the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Registration Standards are achieved and exceededLead on the improvement and sustainment of patient safety across the Division with a focus on minimising riskLead midwifery innovation, use of technology and quality improvement initiatives to meet the changing needs of patients and users of the serviceManage the midwifery budget and ensure the midwifery resource is used effectively, contributing to continuous improvement, increased productivity and realisation of benefits both in financial cost improvement savings and in resource termsContribute to the delivery of agreed corporate schemes Qualifications and Further Training Must be an NMC Registered Midwife (RM) and Registered Nurse (RN) Must be a Supervisor of Midwives Management qualification at diploma level BSc in Healthcare or equivalent Mentorship/ENB 998 or equivalent Evidence of recent clinical update Master's Degree Experience Recent senior Midwifery operational role at Grade 8B or above in an acute setting Proven Experience of leading clinical teams and professional agendas Proven Experience of leading corporate wide/cross boundary projects Proven Experience of budgetary/financial management Proven experience of managing the Governance agenda for maternity services Proven track record in improving patient experience and gaining patient/public views Previous experience of budgetary management/accountability Experience of chairing multi-disciplinary meetings
