Apply on employer's website Shawbrook Bank are looking to recruit a strong Legal Counsel to act as a legal business partner to our growing Asset Finance business based in Redhill. This is an excellent opportunity for a subject matter expert to join the business at an exciting phase of growth, helping to establish the business as Shawbrook continues to go from strength to strength. As Legal Counsel you'll be responsible for proactively supporting the business' initiatives and projects by providing high quality legal support and advice to the Asset Finance Business, acting as a referral point for guidance on complex, strategic and unusual lending transaction as part of a second line function Key responsibilities of the role holder will include the following: Working closely with the Business Finance division of the Bank, and in particular with regard to the asset finance suite of products.Acting as a referral/escalation point for guidance on complex, strategic, unusual, high value or high risk lending transactions within Business Finance in an advisory capacity as part of the "second" line, as opposed to an execution/first line capacity.Be the Legal stakeholder supporting the development and maintenance of the Bank's standard form customer-facing asset finance documentation suite within Business Finance, working closely with other stakeholders.Supporting new asset finance products through the product approval process as the Legal stakeholderProviding legal input to credit and operational policies.Advising on strategy and approach to any issues which may become litigious. Suitable candidates will have the following experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with a number of years post qualified experience.The ideal candidate will have received wide ranging asset finance training and experience within a top law firm and/or in-house environment, ideally considered a subject matter expert in asset finance matters.Experience in financial services sector advising asset finance fundersExperience in drafting, advising on and negotiating a range of asset finance documentation, including leasing, hire purchase and loansExperience providing commercial advice and decision makingExperience in commercial security taking and insolvency/enforcement remediesIn-house experience (permanent or secondment) would be a benefit
