Apply on employer's website Our opportunity: We are currently looking for an Assistant Market Underwriter to join our Engineering Underwriting Team in Croydon. You will provide support and underwriting expertise and services to brokers and customers, delivering a first class service and building positive business relationships with them. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to build a career with a leading global insurance company.Key Responsibilities: Meet agreed performance measures (including high quality and timely data input to systems)Ensure delivery of first class service and productivity (including schemes, portfolio transfers, DAAs and MGAs)Implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices, proceduresImplement underwriting policy within areas of specialismNegotiates where appropriate across our whole proposition, with support of local managers and senior underwritersHandle a range of queries within agreed authority limits, providing information and advice to assist in the development of the account and maintain underwriting standardsSupports the effective coaching, development and training of assistant underwriters and trainee underwritersParticipation in underwriting and schemes audits/reviews.Liaise with EDU's to identify and maximise business opportunitiesUnderwrite and negotiate business within authority as appropriate and where directed by line manager Your Skills and Experience 2 A Levels at Grade E or aboveIntends to progress towards professional qualificationsRelevant experience of underwritingClear understanding of basic underwriting principles and practiceBasic knowledge of the insurance marketEffective knowledge of Zurich propositions, including our Broker Alliance ProgrammeKnowledge of compliance and regulatory issues (such as Contract Certainty, Treating the Customer Fairly and Complaints Handling).
