You will be responsible for delivering high quality analysis and insight, providing the GM & Clothing Retail Operations team with honest and robust reporting, management information and commercial insight into our GM & Clothing & Multi-Channel business. You will support and drive up understanding through MI & Data to shape future strategies, business cases and project analysis, giving greater insight into performance and potential areas of improvement maximising sales and profit opportunities, proposing balanced opportunities and solutions for exploration, encompassing both customer needs and financial returns. The role involves hands on design and development of business intelligence solutions and acts as a technical lead for application development. As a key role within the GM & Clothing Retail Operations Analytics team, you will be pivotal to support and drive circa £1.1billion growth over the next 5 years across the group GM & Clothing business! As an Analytics Development Lead you will: Indirectly impact GM & Clothing sales growth (circa £1.1billion) over the next 5 yearsUnderstand stakeholders needs to translate business requirements into analytics technical requirements and solutionsDevelop and implement the technical requirements of the Analytics teamBuild, design and enhance data sets to support with changing business requirementsUndertake solution development utilising appropriate models, process, standard and principlesWork collaboratively with leadership teams across retail and wider Sainsbury's Argos functions to understand, define and prioritise MI, reporting and commercial insight requirementsSupport the development of business cases relating to the GM & Clothing business by conducting detailed analysis that enables us to draw insights and develop solutions that support the GM & Clothing & Sainsbury's Argos strategySupport the development and delivery of the benefits cases and delivery plans to support strategic deliverySupport the building of robust business cases relating to the GM & Clothing business to secure approval from the project sponsors and relevant capital approval body (Steering Groups or Investment Board) by conducting detailed analysis that enables us to draw insights and develop solutions that support the GM & Clothing & Sainsbury's Argos strategyProvide insight into performance and potential areas of improvement maximising sales and profit opportunities, proposing balanced opportunities and solutions for exploration, encompassing both customer needs and financial returnsGenerate high quality analysis and reports of current performance to deliver actionable insights that drive change or improved understanding of performance across GM & Clothing, directly supporting current and future sales opportunitiesBe responsible for the creation of presentation packs, including data analytics to be used by the Retail Operations Team and key stakeholders As an Analytics Development Lead your experience will include: Highly numerate and confident dealing with complex datasets and processes, ideally utilising SAS / SQL within Oracle / Teradata environmentStrong analytical skills, with an ability to analyse, present and communicate data in a compelling format to drive actionGood communicator, able to engage a wide variety of diverse stakeholders, simply and persuasivelyStrong commercial acumen and an ability to understand problems from a business as well as an operational or technical standpointProactive in identifying and solving problems and identifying next steps, showing a high level of entrepreneurism and self-motivationStrong planning and prioritisation skills, focused on time, cost and qualityBroad understanding of the retail sector and end to end retail and multi-channel operating modelsGood understanding of GM & Clothing & multichannel landscape What I need to show: Ability to relate data / analytics to real-world businessLogical approach to problem solving, with attention to detail and good communication skillsAble to explain technical concepts in simple terms to a non-technical audienceResults-orientated with a passion for 'making it happen' at pace through successful data delivery with the ability to articulate performance to senior stakeholdersThe ability and confidence in questioning the validity of information and in offering ideas and solutionsIdentify opportunities to make the way we work simpler through changes to existing, or introduction of new, systems, processes, tools or ways of workingSets and pursues guidance without direction and is able to manage workload and conflicting prioritiesInterest in and understanding of the GM & Clothing and Omni-Channel landscape
