We require BACP registered counsellors who must have their own established private practice with access to counselling rooms who have capacity to take more clients on an as and when basis. The RoleReporting into the Counselling Supervisor, the Staff Counsellor will work in partnership with all members of the Occupational Health & Counselling Teams to provide a high-quality counselling service to areas of the Council as well as non-ECC clients.The purpose of the role is to provide confidential counselling to clients due to work-related or personal issues.Key Accountabilities* To provide a professional, confidential counselling service to employees* Work collaboratively with wellbeing colleagues to explore and develop proactive solutions where employees' wellbeing is compromised* Record up to date notes of counselling sessions in line with ECC policies and procedures* Liaise with the Counselling Supervisor regarding general staff care issues, training needs, policy and practice, without any breach of confidentiality or compromise to the nature of the post* Maintain and enhance the concept of staff counselling and help to raise awareness of the role and its function to all employees Knowledge, Skills and Experience * Recognised training in either counselling or psychotherapy to Diploma level or equivalent* UKCP/BACP Registration or BACP Accreditation with post accreditation experience* Experience desirable of providing a counselling service to employees* An understanding of mental health issues and an ability to keep abreast of current initiatives* Experience of time limited counselling desirable* Be able to work within the organisation and independently to a degree that will give staff confidence in the confidentiality and autonomy of this specialist counselling roleQualification certificates, details and photographs of your counselling room should be brought to interview.As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate. This is an annual subscription and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained.
