Apply now Structural Test Engineer to lead testing methods for the structural performance of large structures within a manufacturing production environment. A background in civil engineering or aerospace with experience on testing large products would be beneficial. With an ability to demonstrate sound practical knowledge and skills within a mechanical environment the test engineer will ideally have some higher-level education (BEng, MEng, BSc, PhD, Feng) but more importantly commercial experience up to at least 5yrs. The Structural Test Engineer will be required to: Work with test methodologiesPrepare Test proceduresDesign new test campaigns where necessaryOversee the setting up jigs / rigs in a testing environmentManage test data and prepare reports accordingly / analysis of data pointsWork with MS Office, mainly word and excel for data processingHelp oversee the team responsible for maintaining test equipment, tools and other test components with support from the Head of DepartmentWork with 3rd party suppliersWork with tooling equipment such as: fibre optics, strain sensing, gauge analysis, pressure sensors, calibration, telemetryWork with basic CAD (such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, CATIA) Requirements: Min 5yrs commercial experience in a manufacturing environmentSound test engineering skills and engineering first principlesHealth and safetyLarge structures knowledge (bending, strain, stress etc.)Excellent test techniqueData processing and analysis This role would suit an engineer with good practical experience and ideally have had hands on experience in a mechanical arena. Any understanding of analysis (FEA, ANSYS) would be very helpful as the structural test engineer will be working closely with the design and analysis team in creating novel solutions for testing equipment.
