Apply now THE ROLE: We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced teacher in a specialist hospital setting for young people with a range of mental health problems aged 12-18 years. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers from mainstream, specialist education or community provision who are looking to move into a hospital specialist setting. As an outstanding practitioner, you will be passionate about influencing educational best practice and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Your main duties will be: " To be competent to deliver their subject taught in a timely and efficient manner. " To teach your subject and on occasion cover lessons in the main school rooms across the hospital. " Be adequately prepared for the lessons they teach. " Be able to assess and plan programmes of work and keep records of all student's whose work they are responsible for. " To write accurate and detailed reports on students when required. This may mean reporting incidents witnessed or involved in on the hospitals Datix system. " To attend admittance, planning and review meetings on students as required. " Be familiar with the relevant sections of legislation e.g. Education Acts, the Children's Act, Mental Health Act and Equal Opportunity Act. " To be aware of all company policies on safety, security and emergency procedures. " Have read and understood the required Hospital Policies and Procedures and those of the Education Department. You will as part of this process, required to signed those you have read and understood. This has to be done prior to working with the Students. You may be required on occasion to participate in the development of school policies and their implementation. " Be able to liaise with nursing, medical and other professional staff. " To liaise with schools colleges and other external agencies as necessary. " To liaise with parents about school programmes and progress, as appropriate. " Ensure confidentiality is maintained. " To help and assist with the extra- curricular work that is offered by the education department such as school outings, collapsed school days, fetes etc. " Be prepared to undertake reasonable duties that may be required as requested by your line manager. " To understand all the above should be undertaken with consideration that teachers are subject to the schools Code of Conduct Policy. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL: " A fully qualified teacher ideally with some experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. " A sound understanding of the current legislation and statutory regulations relating to educational and care and a detailed knowledge of the National Curriculum. " Passionate, enthusiastic and self-motivated. " Be able to demonstrate excellent skills in planning and reporting across the curriculum for children aged 12-18 years old.
